Dot Ai Launches IoT Tracking System for Logistics and Supply Chains

Insider Brief

  • Dot Ai launched ZiM (Zero Infrastructure Mesh), an advanced IoT tracking hardware designed to revolutionize asset tracking in logistics by replacing outdated, costly systems like RFID with real-time data collection throughout logistics processes.
  • ZiM supports both passive and active transponders, features task-signaling LEDs, connects to external sensors, and integrates with Dot Ai’s AI-driven software for optimizing operations through machine learning and real-time suggestions.
  • Full-scale production and deployment of ZiM are planned by December 2024, marking a significant leap forward in efficiency and innovation for logistics and supply chain management.

PRESS RELEASE — Dot Ai, a startup specializing in asset intelligence technology, said on Wednesday it has launched its new IoT tracking hardware, ZiM (Zero Infrastructure Mesh).

The company says ZiM represents a significant advancement in asset tracking for logistics and supply chain management, aiming to replace traditional and costly systems that have dominated the industry for decades.

“After years of meticulous research and development, we are launching our revolutionary ZiM IoT technology in the market,” said Dot Ai CEO Edmund Nabrotzky in a statement.

“We believe this first-of-its-kind technology will transform the landscape of asset tracking for logistics, an industry that relies heavily on manual processes as well as RFID technology which has not seen major innovation since its conception in the 1980s.”

ZiM is designed to collect real-time data throughout logistics processes, addressing the limitations of legacy systems that only capture information at the start and end of key milestones.

The hardware supports both passive, battery-free transponders and active, battery-powered beacons. It can function on battery power when attached to moving racks or pallets or be hardwired for stationary use in fixed locations.

Dot Ai says the device integrates multiple features to improve workflows, including bright LEDs for task signaling and connectivity to external sensors through general-purpose I/O pins. It can also integrate with Dot Ai’s AI-driven software platform, which uses cloud-based tools to optimize operations.

The company’s platform leverages machine learning to provide real-time, context-aware suggestions tailored to specific workflows. The AI capabilities also include camera integration for object recognition and the ability to overlay visual data on process records collected by ZiM.

Dot Ai plans to begin full-scale production and deployment of ZiM by the end of December 2024.
