Hitesh Sheth on AI-Driven Cybersecurity and the Road Ahead

“We’re on a mission to make the world a safer and fairer place,” said Hitesh Sheth, CEO of Vectra AI, during a recent interview. His company is a pioneering cybersecurity firm leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to combat evolving threats. In an era of increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks, Sheth believes AI is no longer optional — it’s essential.

Founded over a decade ago, Vectra AI has emerged as a leader in AI-powered threat detection and response.

“We were one of the earliest companies to pioneer the use of AI in security,” Sheth noted. “While many are now claiming to use AI, we’ve spent 12 years building deep expertise in the field.”

Sheth outlined how Vectra’s technology addresses the expanding digital landscape.

“We think about security holistically across six attack surfaces: public clouds, data centers, enterprise applications, user identities, endpoint devices, and even AI itself as an attack surface,” he explained. Vectra’s platform unifies protection across these layers, delivering a comprehensive solution for enterprises.

Discussing the exponential rise in cyber threats, Sheth described why AI is indispensable.

“Given the sheer volume and variety of attacks, you simply cannot solve this by throwing more people at it. There aren’t enough trained professionals, and even if there were, no amount of manpower can keep up without AI and compute at scale,” he asserted. He added, “The cost and efficacy of AI have dramatically improved over the last five years. The next five to ten years will be revolutionary in what we can achieve.”

Cloud environments have amplified security challenges, which Vectra is tackling head-on. Sheth said: “Cloud is like the Wild West right now — a thousand times broader in exposure compared to personal computing. To secure it, we tie cloud infrastructure together with applications, identity systems, and data centers. It’s about stitching these pieces seamlessly, not looking at them in silos.”

The UAE’s proactive investments in AI and digital transformation also stood out to Sheth as a unique opportunity for collaboration.

“The leadership here is visionary. Their initiatives to drive AI adoption and make the region a global technology leader are impressive. Vendors like Microsoft have invested heavily, and we see ourselves contributing by bringing AI expertise and talent development to the region,” he said.

Sheth described Vectra’s edge in the crowded cybersecurity market, pointing to its pioneering status and vast real-world experience.

“We have 1,500 customers globally, and half of them let us test and learn in their environments before we release our software. That’s a significant advantage, allowing us to fine-tune our algorithms for real-world scenarios,” he shared.

Looking to the future, Sheth sees automation as the ultimate goal for cybersecurity.

“In three years, we aim to automate the entire detection, prioritization, and response process. Enterprises today rely heavily on hard-to-find human talent. Our software will take over those manual tasks, closing the loop and making cybersecurity more efficient, scalable, and effective,” he said.

Vectra AI’s vision goes beyond technical excellence. For Sheth, the stakes are human. “Cyberattacks on hospitals, oil companies, or elections don’t just harm institutions — they disrupt people’s lives. This is about protecting individuals, ensuring fairness, and making the world safer.”

With its robust AI-driven solutions and a clear vision for the future, Vectra AI is at the forefront of cybersecurity’s next evolution, helping enterprises prepare for the challenges of tomorrow.
