Egregious Secures $1M to Combat AI-Driven Misinformation

Egregious, a UK-based company focused on protecting humanity from AI misuse, has raised $1 million in pre-seed funding co-led by Fuel Ventures and Oxford Capital. This investment aims to accelerate the development of Egregious’ Human AI platform, which addresses the growing threats of disinformation, AI-driven deception, and harmful content across critical sectors.

Founded by Rupert Small, PhD, Egregious leverages AI to safeguard industries such as national security, finance, corporate security, and marketing. Its platform offers tools for detecting AI-powered misinformation, countering narrative manipulation, and mitigating risks in cybersecurity and social media intelligence. The World Economic Forum’s Global Risks Report has repeatedly ranked disinformation as the top global threat, highlighting the urgency of such solutions.

Rupert Small described Egregious as a vital “defense line for humanity,” emphasizing its mission to counter the misuse of AI in shaping narratives and undermining trust. Mark Pearson, founder of Fuel Ventures, praised Egregious for its innovative approach to addressing critical challenges posed by evolving AI technology.

With backing from Fuel Ventures, Oxford Capital, and other strategic investors, Egregious is set to advance its AI-driven solutions and redefine digital risk management in an interconnected world.
