Meta Signs Multiyear AI Chip Deal with AMD Worth Up to $100B

Meta has entered a multiyear agreement to purchase potentially up to $100 billion in advanced AI chips from AMD, a move expected to support roughly six gigawatts of data center power demand. The deal includes purchases of AMD’s MI540 GPUs and next-generation CPUs, reflecting the growing role of diverse compute architectures in large-scale AI inference. As part of the arrangement, AMD issued Meta a performance-based warrant for up to 160 million shares, tied to specific milestones and stock performance.

AMD CEO Lisa Su indicated that demand for CPUs is surging alongside the expansion of AI infrastructure and agentic systems. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg framed the partnership as central to diversifying compute resources and advancing the company’s vision of personal superintelligence. The agreement complements Meta’s broader plan to invest heavily in AI infrastructure and reduce dependence on a single chip supplier.
