Meta Expands AI Commerce and Launches Small Business Initiative to Accelerate Adoption

Meta has announced a series of AI-driven updates aimed at transforming commerce across its platforms while expanding support for entrepreneurs. At Shoptalk 2026, the company revealed new AI-powered product discovery features for Facebook and Instagram, designed to surface summarized user reviews, brand insights, and product recommendations when users interact with ads or retailer links.

The experience includes AI-generated summaries of customer feedback alongside additional product details, pricing insights, and purchasing options. Meta is also introducing an updated checkout flow developed with Stripe and PayPal, enabling in-app purchases while allowing merchants to manage fulfillment. Further integrations with partners including Adyen and Shopify are planned, alongside expanded affiliate programs featuring Amazon, eBay, Temu, Mercado Libre, and Shopee. Instagram creators will also gain access to product catalogs across multiple markets.

In parallel, Meta has launched Meta Small Business, a company-wide initiative to drive entrepreneurship and AI adoption. CEO Mark Zuckerberg positioned small businesses as central to Meta’s ecosystem, while leadership of the initiative has been assigned to Dina Powell McCormick and Naomi Gleit, as the company seeks to expand access to AI-powered tools for business growth.
