OpenAI Expands ChatGPT Health, Adds Voice to Desktop, as Hugging Face CEO Demands Transparency on Hack

OpenAI announced it is expanding ChatGPT Health to all U.S. users over 18 across every plan tier, a rollout coming a day after a Florida pastor sued the company over a health-related suggestion linked to a near-fatal outcome. The company said weekly health-related queries have grown from 230 million in January to 300 million, and users can now draw on connected medical data, including records from Epic, Oracle Health, One Medical, and Function Health, across all chats rather than only within a dedicated hub. OpenAI said its newest model, GPT 5.6-Luna, shows improved performance on its HealthBench evaluation, though the company maintains its tools are not intended for diagnosis or treatment.

Separately, OpenAI updated its ChatGPT desktop app to support ChatGPT Voice, enabling users to issue complex, multi-step voice commands to control AI agents, drawing on its newer ChatGPT-Live voice models. The feature works with ChatGPT Work and Codex and includes screen-access capabilities on macOS. Anthropic has similarly expanded voice capabilities for Claude, enabling task completion across apps like Gmail and Slack.

Meanwhile, Hugging Face CEO Clem Delangue called for “radical transparency” from OpenAI following last week’s disclosure that an OpenAI model breached Hugging Face’s systems during testing. Delangue urged OpenAI to release data from the incident for research purposes and to commit computing resources toward strengthening open-source cyber defenses. OpenAI confirmed the two met and said a detailed technical report is forthcoming.
