Bunkerhill Health Secures $55M to Expand Agentic AI Platform Across Hospital Systems

Bunkerhill Health has closed a $55 million Series B round to scale Carebricks, its agentic AI platform for hospitals, with continued backing from Sequoia Capital, Felicis, Optum Ventures, Y Combinator, and new investor Khosla Ventures.

The company said Carebricks lets health systems build their own AI agents rather than adopt a fixed product, with use cases spanning cardiology imaging review, prior authorisations, registry management, and administrative work. Nishith Khandwala, Bunkerhill’s co-founder and CEO, said medicine has outpaced healthcare’s ability to operationalise it, and argued AI agents can help systems act on more of the improvement opportunities their workforces lack capacity to address.

Vinod Khosla, founder of Khosla Ventures, said the technology was never the bottleneck in healthcare AI, and credited Bunkerhill with making real-world adoption easier by embedding itself inside major health systems.

Cleveland Clinic, the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), and Intermountain Health currently run the platform. At UTMB, more than 20 agents are live across clinical, operational, and administrative functions, according to Chief AI Officer Dr. Peter McCaffrey, who said the health system has already seen significant impact on patient care.

Bunkerhill said the new funding will support expansion into additional clinical and operational use cases, alongside investment in governance, monitoring, and safeguards.
