AI Waste Analytics Firm Greyparrot Secures $27M to Expand Recycling Dataset

Greyparrot, a London-based AI-enabled waste analytics company, has raised $27 million in Series B funding to expand its network of AI-powered camera systems deployed across material recovery facilities. The round, led by technology investor Omar Mir, brings Greyparrot’s total funding to $60 million and will support growth of its AI, data science, and product teams across North America and Europe, according to co-founder and CEO Mikela Druckman.

The company’s Analyzer technology uses AI-driven cameras positioned on sorting lines in more than 20 countries to identify waste materials, feeding data into its Deepnest platform. Greyparrot recently reached a milestone of 1 trillion waste detections, identifying materials the company estimates hold roughly $2.5 billion in recoverable value, including an estimated 17.4 billion PET bottles and 4.2 billion aluminum items.

Druckman said waste represents one of the planet’s largest untapped resources, with data serving as the infrastructure to unlock it. Co-founder Ambarish Mitra compared waste intelligence to the role satellite data played in navigation, noting that measurable materials become tradable and investable.

Greyparrot aims to help divert more than 1 million tons of waste by 2030 and positions its AI technology as a tool for policymakers and packaging producers navigating extended producer responsibility requirements. The company’s customers include WM, Circular Services, FCC, Veolia, Kenvue, Unilever, and L’Oréal.
