Cybersecurity Startup Spur Intelligence Secures $200M From Insight Partners

Spur Intelligence, a cybersecurity startup based in Lake Mary, Florida, has raised $200 million in a funding round led by Insight Partners. The company, founded in 2017 by two former Defense Department engineers, develops technology that helps enterprises distinguish legitimate human users from increasingly sophisticated bot traffic, identifying fake users and potential threats.

Thomas Krane of Insight Partners said organizations face a growing blind spot as criminal VPNs, residential proxy networks, and anonymization infrastructure become more widespread, allowing companies to see suspicious activity without being able to trace the underlying infrastructure behind it.

The investment comes as bot detection becomes an increasingly urgent challenge for corporate security teams. According to Cloudflare data, bots became more active on the internet than humans for the first time as of mid-2026, a shift the company had not expected to occur so soon. Cloudflare founder and CEO Matthew Prince noted that agentic AI traffic has grown rapidly enough to surpass human traffic online, marking a historic shift in internet usage patterns.

Spur’s funding reflects broader investor interest in tools capable of addressing the rise of AI-driven bot activity, as automated traffic increasingly complicates efforts to secure enterprise systems and accurately identify genuine users.
