Google announced a broad set of new AI-powered study features across Search and Gemini, including interactive visuals, 3D simulations, customized practice quizzes, and a dedicated learning hub, as the company works to position Gemini as a primary AI tool for students amid growing competition from OpenAI and education-focused startups.

Within Search, students can now generate interactive visuals directly through AI Overviews, such as pH scale diagrams, and refine them further using AI Mode for more specialized requests. Search will also generate custom practice quizzes across subjects including science, math, humanities, and foreign languages based on simple prompts. In the coming weeks, Google Lens will introduce an interactive learning feature allowing students to photograph assignments and receive AI-guided explanations and error identification. Additionally, Search can now compile study documents, such as summary sheets, from uploaded files including notes, slides, and PDFs.

On the Gemini side, users can launch multi-step research reports through Gemini Live, receiving notifications once completed and discussing findings conversationally afterward. Gemini will also generate functional 3D simulations, allowing users to interactively explore concepts like DNA structure. Google is additionally introducing a dedicated learning hub within the Gemini app, consolidating tools such as study notebooks, flashcards, and practice quizzes into a single centralized location for students.
