Lupin Dental Announces €15M in Series A Funding for Robotic Dental Procedure System

Insider Brief

  • Lupin Dental raised €15 million in Series A financing led by Fynveur, which invested €10 million, with additional backing from existing shareholders, new private investors and a Bpifrance loan.
  • The France-based company develops the Lupin Robotic System, a supervised automation platform for minimally invasive tooth preparation for aesthetic veneers and other complex dental procedures.
  • The system is approved for clinical use in India and the U.K. but not currently in the U.S. or EU, while Lupin plans to expand partnerships with academic, medical and dental organizations.

Lupin Dental has raised €15 million in Series A financing to support development and adoption of its robotic system for dental procedures.

Fynveur led the round with a €10 million investment, alongside existing shareholders and new private investors, according to the company. The financing is also supplemented by a loan from Bpifrance, though Lupin Dental did not disclose the size of the loan. The company said the new financing will support its next stage of growth, with Fynveur and Invus also providing strategic and operational support.

France-based Lupin Dental develops robotic technology for dental treatments, with an initial focus on supervised automation for veneers and other complex procedures.

What is the Lupin Robotic System?

Its Lupin Robotic System is designed to assist dentists with minimally invasive tooth preparation for aesthetic veneers. The system uses supervised automation, keeping a dental professional involved during the procedure rather than operating independently.

The technology is approved for clinical use in India and the United Kingdom but is not currently approved for clinical use in the U.S. or European Union, according to Lupin Dental. Lupin Dental has licensed the technology to Dolphin Lifesciences, which manufactures and distributes it in India under the Dolphin Robotic Dental System name.

Lupin Dental said it plans to expand relationships with academic and medical institutions as well as dental professionals, including individual dentists and Dental Service Organizations.

The company, which was co-founded by Galip Gürel and Stefen Koubi, noted that Fynveur is a long-term private equity investment company advised by Invus, and as part of the investment, Invus will join Lupin Dental’s board and work with the company on strategy and operations.
