Algomatic Dynamics has raised $32.5 million from DMM.com in its first funding round as the new robotics startup prepares to launch an AI-powered multi-fingered hand platform in Japan by the end of 2026.
According to the Tokyo-based company, the funding will be used to invest in hardware and secure computing resources for research and development in robotics and physical AI, a field that applies artificial intelligence to machines that interact with the physical world. Its work is focused on developing technology that can be used across different robots and working environments rather than being tied to a single machine or application.
Algomatic Dynamics officially began operations Sept. 9 and was established as part of an organizational change at Algomatic Co., a DMM Group company. The startup is led by Chief Executive Yuki Nanri.
The company outlined three main business areas.
Motion data and robot learning: Algomatic Dynamics plans to analyze video of skilled workers’ hands and full-body movements such as dancing or playing soccer, then convert those movements into data for training robots. The company said the data can be used across different robot forms and it will also offer robot rental and operator services.
AI robotic hands: The company plans to sell multi-fingered robotic hands as an integrated hardware and software system, with services covering task-specific tuning, readjustment and maintenance as products or workplace conditions change.
AI entertainment robots: Algomatic Dynamics also plans to develop, maintain and operate bipedal character robots using technology developed for animatronics.
Robotic Hand
The multi-fingered hand is one of the company’s main technical projects. Algomatic Dynamics said the system combines robotic hardware with tactile sensing and an AI learning platform designed to handle the process from task-specific data collection through model training and deployment on physical machines.
The company said the hand is designed to adjust how it grips and manipulates different objects, frome rigid industrial parts to irregularly shaped food products.
Bringing Balance and Nuance to Robots
Algomatic Dynamics is also working on two other technical areas.
Bipedal stability: The company is developing control systems intended to keep two-legged robots upright on uneven surfaces, stairs and slopes. The approach combines model-based control and reinforcement learning, in which an AI system improves through repeated attempts and feedback.
Tacit knowledge: Its video-analysis system is designed to capture skills that experienced workers perform automatically but may not explicitly describe, including movement timing, applied force and where a worker is looking.
Looking Ahead
Algomatic Dynamics pointed out that these capabilities could support industries facing labor shortages in Japan, impacting areas such as manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, nursing care and food service.
The company plans to strengthen its research and development operation as it works toward releasing the AI multi-fingered hand platform in Japan by the end of 2026. Algomatic Dynamics also said it intends to work with companies and research institutions on demonstrations and other collaborations looking to deploy the technology in both industrial and everyday environments.
