Jeff Bezos Joins Project Prometheus as Co-CEO of New AI Engineering Venture

Project Prometheus, a newly formed artificial intelligence startup dedicated to advancing AI for engineering and large-scale manufacturing across computers, automobiles, and spacecraft, has appointed Jeff Bezos as its co-chief executive officer. According to reports, this marks Bezos’s first formal operational role since leaving Amazon’s top post in 2021, while he continues to be involved with Blue Origin in a founder capacity.

The company has reportedly secured $6.2 billion in funding, with Bezos contributing as part of the raise, positioning Project Prometheus among the most heavily financed early-stage AI ventures in the world. He will lead the company alongside Vik Bajaj, a physicist and chemist known for his work with Sergey Brin at Google’s X division.

Project Prometheus has already assembled a team of nearly 100 specialists, drawing researchers from OpenAI, DeepMind, and Meta to accelerate the development of next-generation AI systems for advanced engineering applications.
