Meta has announced a new software update for its AI-powered smart glasses that introduces conversation-focused audio enhancement and contextual music playback. The update will initially roll out in the U.S. and Canada for Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta HSTN glasses, enhancing real-world usability through on-device AI.
The conversation-focus feature uses AI-driven audio processing to amplify the voice of a nearby speaker in noisy environments, with adjustable levels controlled via touch gestures or settings. Designed for use in places such as restaurants, public transport, and social venues, the feature positions smart glasses as assistive AI wearables rather than passive accessories.
The update also adds Spotify integration, allowing the glasses to play music that matches what the wearer is viewing, linking visual context with app-based actions. Software version 21 will launch first through Meta’s Early Access Program before wider availability.
