Anthropic Appoints Irina Ghose to Lead India Expansion Ahead of Bengaluru Office Launch

Anthropic has appointed Irina Ghose, former Managing Director of Microsoft India, to lead its India business as the U.S.-based AI company prepares to open an office in Bengaluru. The move signals Anthropic’s intent to make India a core growth market as competition intensifies among global AI providers.

Ghose brings more than two decades of big-tech leadership experience, having spent 24 years at Microsoft before stepping down in December 2025. Her appointment gives Anthropic senior local leadership with deep enterprise and government relationships as it builds an on-the-ground presence.

India is already Anthropic’s second-largest market by users for its Claude models, with usage heavily focused on technical and work-related tasks. The company plans to expand enterprise, developer, and startup adoption while building local teams to support its growing customer base across the country.
