China’s X-Humanoid Raises $100M in First Funding Round

Insider Brief

  • Beijing-based humanoid robotics hub X-Humanoid has raised more than 700 million yuan (about $100 million) in its first funding round to accelerate commercialization of embodied AI and industrial humanoid robots, according to Pandaily, Asia Business Outlook, and Caixin.
  • The round was led by state-linked funds including the Beijing Robotics Industry Development Investment Fund, E-Town Capital, and the Beijing Gaojingjian Industrial Development Investment Fund, with participation from TH Capital and strategic investors such as Baidu and Kyland Technology.
  • Founded in 2023 and designated a National–Local Jointly Built Embodied Intelligence Robotics Innovation Center in 2024, X-Humanoid is developing the Tiangong humanoid robot and the Huisi Kaiwu embodied AI platform, supported by a pilot manufacturing facility aimed at scaling from prototypes to production.

The Beijing Innovation Center of Humanoid Robotics (X-Humanoid) has raised more than 700 million yuan, or about $100 million, in its first funding round, according to multiple media outlets including Pandaily, Asia Business Outlook and Caixon.

The round was backed primarily by state-linked investors, including the Beijing Robotics Industry Development Investment Fund, E-Town Capital, and the Beijing Gaojingjian Industrial Development Investment Fund, alongside TH Capital. Strategic investors such as Baidu and Kyland Technology also participated.

The center, which is registered in Beijing’s Economic-Technological Development Area, was created to accelerate real-world applications of humanoid robots by coordinating work across complete systems, core components, and large robot foundation models. The new funding will be used to advance embodied AI software and support commercialization efforts, including development of the Tiangong humanoid robot.

Tiangong is positioned as a full-size, electric-drive humanoid robot designed for industrial environments and operates on the center’s Huisi Kaiwu embodied AI platform. The organization has also opened a pilot manufacturing and validation facility intended to bridge the gap between laboratory prototypes and scaled production.

Founded in 2023, X-Humanoid was launched by a consortium that includes Beijing Jingcheng Machinery Electric, UBTECH Robotics, Yizhuang Robotics, and Shoucheng Capital to build an embodied-intelligence robotics innovation platform, according to Pandaily. In October 2024, the group was designated a National–Local Jointly Built Embodied Intelligence Robotics Innovation Center, formalizing its role within China’s state-backed science and technology framework and positioning it as a conduit between research, industry, and deployment.

Since then, X-Humanoid has posted a series of high-profile technical demonstrations, most notably with its Tiangong Ultra humanoid robot, which completed a half marathon autonomously in April 2025 and later won multiple events at the World Humanoid Robot Games. Powered by the Huisi Kaiwu embodied AI platform, the company’s robots have shown advances in locomotion, perception, and autonomous decision-making, with applications spanning industrial handling, specialized operations, and commercial services. X-Humanoid has formed partnerships with organizations including the China Electric Power Research Institute, Foton Cummins, Bayer, and Li-Ning Group, and said newly raised capital will be directed toward scaling its Embodied Tiangong and Huisi Kaiwu platforms as it pushes toward broader real-world deployment.
