Circus Awarded Contract by Lithuanian Armed Forces for Autonomous Sustainment Robot Deployment

Insider Brief

  • Circus SE has been selected to deploy an autonomous, AI-powered sustainment robot for the Lithuanian Armed Forces in Vilnius, expanding its defense footprint in Europe following a competitive procurement process, the company said.
  • The system will be integrated into barracks infrastructure and evaluated in real-world military settings, including training operations and multinational exercises, within a high-readiness NATO environment on the alliance’s eastern flank.
  • The contract builds on Circus’s prior work with Ukrainian and German forces, as the company scales its autonomous food supply systems across defense applications, with deployment expected to begin this year, the company said.

Circus SE announced it has been selected to deploy what it describes as a fully autonomous, AI-powered sustainment robot for the Lithuanian Armed Forces in Vilnius.

According to the German robotics company, the contract will integrate its robotic system into existing barracks infrastructure. The system will be evaluated in operational and training environments, including multinational exercises and sustained readiness scenarios.

Circus pointed out that Lithuania, which borders Belarus and lies near Russia’s Kaliningrad region, is a key part of NATO’s eastern flank. Its armed forces include roughly 25,000 active personnel, alongside a growing multinational NATO presence, making Vilnius a high-readiness operational hub.

Circus said the contract builds on its previous work with the Ukrainian and German armed forces, extending its footprint in autonomous ground-based supply systems. Deployment and integration are expected to begin later this year.

The Munich-based company develops AI-driven robotics systems focused on autonomous food supply for both civilian and defense applications, designed to deliver high-volume output with minimal human involvement.
