Unit AI has raised $12 million to expand deployments of its modular warehouse automation platform across North America.

According to the company, the round was co-led by Prologis Ventures, Dynamo Ventures and Ground Up Ventures, with participation from eGateway Capital, Recursive Ventures, Think + Ventures, ZEP Fund and Crosscourt. The funding will be used to increase deployment capacity, accelerate product development and support commercial growth among retailers and third-party logistics providers.

Unit’s platform is designed to automate ecommerce fulfillment, inventory management and returns inside existing warehouses, regional fulfillment hubs and back-of-store operations. The system combines predictive inventory software with modular automation that can store, retrieve and manage individual items without requiring operators to redesign their facilities.

The company indicated its platform can be deployed in as little as 1,000 square feet, installed within a week and generate a return on investment in less than 12 months. Unit is working with customers including Barrett, ShipCalm, DaVinci and Carter, as well as global apparel brands.

Unit was founded by warehouse automation executives Guy Glass and Avihou Barkay. Glass previously founded Caja Robotics, which was acquired by Fives, while Barkay has served as president of Plus One Robotics and general manager of Caja Robotics.

“After decades of building warehouse automation, we realized the next breakthrough wasn’t building bigger systems; it was making automation dramatically more accessible,” Glass said in the announcement. “The world’s largest retailers and logistics providers are looking for enterprise-grade automation that can be deployed in a week instead of months. This funding allows us to scale our deployment capacity, accelerate product innovation, and meet that growing demand.”
