Reimagine Robotics emerged from stealth with technology designed to let factory workers teach and correct robots directly, reducing the need for specialist programmers when production tasks change.
According to the company, initial development was supported by pre-seed financing from Fly Ventures, firstminute capital and angel investors. The company said it is now seeking another funding round to expand its team, increase deployments and demonstrate that experience from each installation can make later projects faster and more reliable.
“A useful robot should be able to learn from the person doing the work,” co-founder and CEO Jonathan Scholz said in the announcement. “They should be able to show it a task, put it right when it makes a mistake and move on to the next problem. That is what it means for a robot to learn on the job. It’s a process we call ‘monkey-see, monkey-do’.”
Reimagine Robotics said the approach is intended to make industrial automation more flexible in factories with fluid processes where production volumes may be too low or workflows too variable to justify conventional automation. Traditional robotic systems often require engineers or integrators to reprogram equipment when a workflow changes, which can add time and cost and limit automation to repetitive, highly structured jobs.
Scholz previously founded and then led Google DeepMind’s Applied Robotics team in London for seven years before he founded Reimagine Robotics in April 2025 along with colleagues Oleg Sushkov, Akhil Raju and Misha Denil. The company has dual headquarters in London and Sydney.
The company indicated it has already placed robots in advanced manufacturing and electronics-disassembly facilities. At a made-to-order plastics manufacturer, Reimagine Robotics trained robots to operate 3D printers overnight by removing print beds, operating latches and pressing controls after production runs were completed.
The customer’s employees later used the same platform to automate additional steps, including washing, curing and drying. Reimagine Robotics said the deployment showed that workers could extend the automation themselves rather than waiting for outside specialists to program every new task.
“For us, this is not about taking people out of the process,” Scholz noted. “A robot that learns on the job depends on people. The worker identifies the bottleneck, shows the robot how to help and corrects it until it is useful.”
In another project, the company worked with process engineers to create a three-robot system for dismantling used hard drives and recovering valuable materials. The robots and employees operated together while the workflow was adjusted and improved. Reimagine Robotics said it reduced the time needed to develop and test a new robot behavior during that project from about one day to roughly 10 minutes.
“We’re excited to come out of stealth,” Scholz add. “This last year was about building a core product and a team, and working with customers to test the platform. After working with several partners, we’re absolutely convinced it’s not only viable, but that there is a need for this technology, and that it has massive potential across an array of industrial and manufacturing settings.”
