Treble Technologies has raised $18 million in Series A-2 funding to expand an acoustic simulation platform designed to help physical AI systems such as humanoid robots, autonomous vehicles and wearables better understand voice and sound in real-world environments.
According to the Iceland-based company, Paladin Capital Group led the round, with participation from existing investors KOMPAS VC, Frumtak Ventures and the European Innovation Council Fund. The financing brings Treble’s total funding to about €36 million and it plans to use it to expand further into the U.S. market and develop audio-enabled products and physical AI applications.
Treble develops software that combines acoustic simulation, digital twins and synthetic data generation to create audio datasets to simulate how sound behaves in real-world environments. Treble said its approach can reduce some prototype testing and data collection work from months to days by allowing engineers to simulate environments and edge cases digitally.
The company, whose customers include Amazon and Logitech, said physical AI development has focused heavily on vision and touch, while voice and audio are becoming another interface for machines that perceive and act in the physical world.
“Audio and voice interaction is becoming a fundamental interface for the next generation of intelligent products, but the physical world is acoustically complex,” co-founder and CEO Finnur Pind said in the announcement. “AI models and devices that perform well in a laboratory can struggle when they encounter reverberation, background noise or an unfamiliar physical environment. Treble gives development teams at the world’s leading device makers a faster and more scalable way to model those conditions, generate the data they need and test products to ensure they work reliably in the environments where machines operate, and people interact with them.”
Treble has worked with Amazon on virtual acoustic environments used in Alexa development and with Logitech on enterprise audio products. The company said its simulations are intended to help development teams evaluate performance before committing to physical testing or large-scale recording programs.
Amazon Senior Audio Research Manager Wontak Kim said the company uses virtual acoustic environments throughout Alexa development to speed product design and model development.
“Treble provides an accurate and scalable way to model those environments,” Kim added. “It allows us to virtually assess audio quality and performance and evaluate scenarios that are difficult to reproduce through physical testing alone. Its platform and expertise have made Treble a trusted partner and a valuable extension of our team.”
