Ema, a startup that uses coordinated teams of AI agents to automate corporate processes, has raised $77 million in a Series B led by Bengaluru-based Creaegis, with existing investors Accel, Section 32 and Prosus increasing their stakes. The all-equity round brings total funding to $140 million and more than quadruples the company’s 2024 valuation.
Founded in 2023 by former Google and Coinbase executive Surojit Chatterjee and ex-Okta executive Souvik Sen, Ema deploys what it calls AI employees, systems that orchestrate multiple agents to run multi-step workflows across a company’s existing applications. Chatterjee said the platform first wraps around enterprise software, and that many customers are already moving to replace large SaaS applications entirely. He added that Ema draws on more than 150 frontier and open source models and views progress by AI labs as beneficial rather than competitive.
The company counts NTT DATA, Hitachi, ADP, PwC, Google, KPMG, Wipro and Microsoft among its customers, with more than 1 million active enterprise users. Revenue has grown 50-fold in two years, bookings have passed $150 million, and net dollar retention stands at around 180%, while gross margins remain near 80%. Pricing is tied to completed tasks and outcomes rather than seats or tokens.
The funding will expand sales and marketing and support growth into Asia-Pacific, South America and the Middle East.
