PRESS RELEASE — Numeral, the AI-powered sales tax compliance platform, has announced a $100 million Series C led by Insight Partners, with participation from Salesforce Ventures, Geodesic, Benchmark, Mayfield, FCVC, Y Combinator and Uncork. Numeral will use the funding to accelerate product development, expand its offering for industries including software, manufacturing, distribution and wholesale, and grow its team across engineering, sales, marketing, and product.

Sales tax rules are continuing to evolve alongside the ways companies buy and sell. California, for example, recently enacted a law that will extend sales and use tax to prewritten software, including SaaS and software delivered electronically or accessed remotely, beginning in 2027. For companies operating across states and countries, changes like these create a constant need to monitor new obligations and update their systems accordingly.

“Sales tax has become a much bigger operational challenge as companies grow across markets, systems and business models,” said Sam Ross, co-founder and CEO of Numeral. “Businesses need infrastructure that can keep pace as rules and requirements change across jurisdictions, without adding more manual work for their teams. We’re building Numeral to provide that foundation, backed by tax expertise and service that customers can rely on.”

The investment comes at a time of significant momentum for Numeral. Key milestones include a 327% year-over-year increase in total transaction volume, and Numeral expects to process more than 80 million transactions via its tax engine.

Numeral’s growth is also extending across a broader mix of industries. The company recorded a significant increase in software, distribution, and manufacturing customers, many of which are dealing with significant change.

“Sales tax is mission-critical to get right, and the complexity is only growing as regulations expand into new products and markets,” said Rebecca Liu-Doyle, Managing Director at Insight Partners. “We tracked this space closely and saw Numeral consistently deliver — customers repeatedly pointed to the company’s reliability, accuracy, and high level of service. With AI enabling the team to bring sophisticated tax and compliance infrastructure within reach of businesses that previously lacked access, Numeral has a strong foundation for continued growth, and we’re excited to back them through this next stage.”

Numeral supports businesses across the sales tax compliance lifecycle, from nexus monitoring and registrations to tax calculation, filings, remittance and exemption certificate management. The company also supports VAT and GST compliance in more than 90 countries and connects with over 40 billing systems, financial platforms and enterprise resource planning systems.

Customers using Numeral can reduce the time spent on tax filings and registrations by up to 80% and cut manual spreadsheet work and filing errors by up to 95%. Numeral’s exemption certificate management offering can save companies up to 400 hours each year. When companies move their existing certificates onto the platform, Numeral often finds that 30% to 40% fail validation, indicating compliance issues that may previously have gone unidentified.

“Our customers want to know that their tax obligations are being handled accurately while still having access to a person when a complex issue comes up,” said Ross. “That expectation shapes how we build the platform and how we support each customer. As Numeral moves into additional industries and serves larger businesses, we’ll continue investing in both the technology and the tax expertise behind it.”

Numeral is also building deeper partnerships with accounting firms with the launch of its accounting partner program. Firms can refer clients, resell the platform, use it to deliver their own services, or advise clients through implementation. This lets accounting professionals stay closely involved in their clients’ tax decisions. Moreover, partners are provided premier support and other benefits designed to reward engagement and growth.

Numeral combines a deterministic tax engine with AI and automation to support high-volume compliance work. Customers and partners can access in-house specialists for questions and more complex requirements. This combination allows Numeral to support companies directly while working alongside the accounting firms and advisors they already trust.

“Tax compliance has traditionally forced businesses to choose between expensive manual work and software that still leaves them carrying the operational burden,” said Arvind Ayyala, Partner at Geodesic Capital. “Numeral is changing that model by combining deep tax expertise with AI-native infrastructure to deliver tax compliance as an outcome. We are excited to support Sam, Matt, and the team as they build a category-defining business.”

Founded in 2023 by Ross and CTO Matt DuVall, Numeral previously raised a $35 million Series B in September 2025. Its existing investors include Benchmark, Uncork Capital, Y Combinator, Mantis, FCVC, and Mayfield.
