Microsoft has revealed the specifications and pricing for its Surface Laptop Ultra, an AI- and agent-ready PC built on Nvidia’s RTX Spark chip, at an event during San Francisco’s Tech Week. The laptop comes in two base models starting at $2,600 and $3,700, with higher-memory and storage configurations reaching $5,900. The company also introduced the Surface RTX Spark Dev Box, a $6,000 workstation equipped with developer tools including VS Code, GitHub Copilot CLI, WSL and PowerShell 7.
Both devices are designed to run AI models locally and for free, combining CPU, GPU, unified memory and enhanced cooling to handle on-device workloads. They run a revamped version of Windows 11 featuring Execution Containers, which Microsoft said makes it easier to sandbox AI agents. CEO Satya Nadella said the feature will reach all Windows 11 users, explaining that models alone achieve little without orchestration, external memory and a harness layer combining multiple models, context and actions. He added that Microsoft is enabling this for any company’s agents, not only its own apps.
Targeting developers, Microsoft is offering up to $1,000 for MacBook Pro trade-ins. Dell also detailed its RTX Spark-powered XPS 16 Creator Edition, now available for preorder at $3,800.
