TypeSafe AI Secures $870M at $7.5B Valuation as Non-Text Jev Model Gains Rapid Enterprise Adoption

TypeSafe AI, the developer of Jev, a new type of AI model that went viral following its September 15 release, has secured $870 million at a $7.5 billion valuation. The round was led by Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from Sequoia and existing investor DCVC. The company says a third of Fortune 500 companies are already using the model, marking remarkably fast enterprise uptake just weeks after its debut.

Although Jev is built on a transformer architecture, it is not a large language model. Rather than producing text, it outputs probabilities that the company describes as calibrated decisions. TypeSafe claims the model runs significantly faster and consumes far fewer tokens than LLMs, positioning it as particularly well suited to automating tasks rather than generating text or code.

Co-founder Diogo Almeida, a former OpenAI researcher, told TechCrunch last month that the AI industry has excelled at human language for four years, but that this is of limited use for automation because computers communicate in a different language.

TypeSafe was founded in 2024 by Almeida alongside former Meta research engineer Sasha Sheng and engineer and entrepreneur Erik Gafni. The new capital comes as the company seeks to capitalize on strong early demand for its decision-focused approach to AI.
