U.S. Reportedly Probed Possible Chinese Spy Ties of Executive Close to Nvidia CEO
U.S. intelligence agencies investigated whether a senior executive at Singapore AI cloud firm Megaspeed may have been a Chinese spy with close access to Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, according to anonymous sources cited by The New York Times.
The executive, Alice Huang, also known as Huang Le, was photographed among several people dining with Jensen Huang at business dinners in the Singapore region. Sources said U.S. agencies had monitored her for about a year to understand her ties with China. Their concern was that she had become close enough to the Nvidia chief to potentially gather information on the company’s plans and on his efforts to persuade the Trump administration to permit exports of more advanced AI technology to China.
An Nvidia spokesperson rejected the suggestion, telling TechCrunch that the CEO’s interactions with her were no different from those with any other regional customer. The spokesperson said meeting customers is part of a CEO’s role, with Jensen Huang speaking to thousands of customer executives each year, and that regional cloud customers receive only ordinary business information rather than sensitive trade secrets or anything relevant to national security.
The Times reported in 2025 that the Commerce Department had investigated Megaspeed over concerns it helped Chinese companies evade AI chip export controls by reselling restricted Nvidia chips. Alice Huang was reportedly a top executive at the firm at that time.
