Amazon has revealed that it is developing AI-enabled smart glasses designed to improve the efficiency and safety of its delivery drivers. The new device provides a hands-free interface that allows drivers to scan packages, follow directions, and confirm deliveries without relying on their phones.
The glasses integrate computer vision and AI sensing technology to overlay real-time navigation, hazard alerts, and task information directly into the driver’s field of view. When a vehicle stops at a delivery location, the glasses automatically activate to help locate packages, guide drivers through complex routes, and ensure accurate drop-offs.
Currently being tested across North America, the prototype supports prescription and adaptive lenses and connects to a vest-mounted controller for battery power and safety functions. Amazon plans to expand testing as part of its broader effort to integrate AI-driven tools across its logistics and warehouse operations.
