LiveKit Reaches $1B Valuation With $100M Raise as Voice AI Infrastructure Demand Surges

LiveKit, a developer of real-time voice and video infrastructure for AI applications, has raised $100 million in new funding at a $1 billion valuation. The round was led by Index Ventures, with participation from existing investors Altimeter Capital Management, Hanabi Capital, and Redpoint Ventures, and comes just ten months after the company’s previous financing.

Founded in 2021 by Russ d’Sa and David Zhao, LiveKit began as an open source project to enable low-latency audio and video streaming. It has since evolved into a managed cloud platform used by OpenAI to power ChatGPT’s voice mode, as well as by xAI, Salesforce, Tesla, emergency services, and healthcare providers. The funding reflects growing enterprise demand for scalable, real-time voice AI infrastructure.
