China North Industries Group Corp., or Norinco, is debuting a full-size humanoid robot designed for reconnaissance, patrols and hazardous-area operations, the Global Times reported.

The state-owned defense company said its Fuxi humanoid can be remotely controlled by a human operator in real time, allowing the robot to perform tasks on site while the operator remains at a distance. The system is intended for high-risk environments where sending personnel could be dangerous, according to the Global Times.

Norinco said the robot can conduct all-weather reconnaissance, identify people, issue alerts during sentry duties and perform patrols. Multiple Fuxi robots can also operate together in formation.

The robot is paired with a teleoperation system that maps a human operator’s movements onto the roughly 90-kilogram machine. Norinco said the system supports remote reconnaissance, unmanned operations and specialized response tasks.

Fuxi was to be showcased at the 2026 World Robot Conference in Beijing, where Norinco is leading an exhibition area for central state-owned enterprises. A group of Fuxi robots was also expected to demonstrate coordinated nighttime urban inspection.

According to the Global Times, Norinco and its affiliated institutes were displaying 68 products at the conference, spanning humanoid robots, military equipment, exoskeletons, aircraft and other robotic systems.
