Acai Travel Raises €3.7M to Transform Travel Operations with AI Solutions

AI-driven travel platform Acai Travel, headquartered in both Barcelona and New York, has raised $4 million (€3.72M) in seed funding to enhance efficiency in travel operations. This funding round, led by Nauta with participation from DraperB1 and returning investor One Travel Ventures, aims to bolster Acai’s technology as it tackles inefficiencies in the travel sector.

Nauta’s General Partner, Jordi Viñas, noted that COVID-19 had drastically impacted the industry, reducing demand and causing a shortage of experienced agents. As demand returned, operational challenges increased. Viñas emphasized that Acai’s AI platform can help address these gaps by cutting handling times and supporting companies in building a flexible workforce that includes untrained agents.

Founded in 2023 by Riccardo Vittoria and Henry Chen Weinstein, Acai Travel builds on the duo’s previous success with 30SecondsToFly, which was acquired by American Express Global Business Travel. Vittoria, formerly head of AI at AMEX GBT, and Weinstein, a travel tech investor, created Acai to address the growing complexity of travel management. Their platform’s tools are designed for airlines, agencies, and hospitality providers, enabling them to reduce costs and improve service amidst agent shortages.

Acai Travel’s platform includes features like:

  • AI Helpers: Quick access to fare and cancellation policies,
  • GDS Overlay: Simplifies complex industry language,
  • AI Translation: Facilitates multilingual communication for agents,
  • Intelligent Routing: Directs travellers to the most suitable agent.

These tools allow agencies to operate with efficiency gains of up to 50%, enabling companies to provide quality service even with fewer trained agents. Intelligent Routing and AI Translation, for instance, allow agents in lower-cost regions to assist customers in any language, regardless of travel system expertise.

In under four months, Acai Travel has reportedly reduced handling time by 20% for one of its travel management clients. The team expects this efficiency to increase as they roll out additional features. Weinstein noted that they could potentially reduce operational costs by 70% for companies using the full suite of Acai’s products.

The funds will support Acai Travel in further platform development, with goals to double agent efficiency, optimize call center operations, and improve traveller experiences. Acai Travel’s current client base includes industry names like Kiwi.com, lastminute.com, World Travel Inc., and Goway, positioning the company to redefine travel operations through AI.
