Vector Institute Awards $2.1M in Scholarships to 120 AI Graduate Students, Strengthening Ontario’s Innovation Leadership

The Vector Institute has announced the awarding of 120 Vector Scholarships in Artificial Intelligence (VSAI), providing $17,500 each to top AI graduate students across Ontario. This year’s recipients, representing disciplines from engineering to health informatics, highlight Ontario’s growing AI talent pipeline.

Melissa Judd, Vice President of Research Operations and Academic Partnerships, emphasized that the VSAI not only supports students financially but connects them with Canada’s AI ecosystem, reinforcing Ontario’s global leadership in AI excellence.

With support from the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, this year’s $2.1 million in scholarships continues Vector’s mission of fostering AI innovation. To date, 802 scholarships have been awarded since the program’s 2018 launch, with Vector alumni driving AI advancements at top companies across Canada.
