Apple Signals Major AI Push as Tim Cook Highlights Strategic Shift and Expanding Investments

Apple has reaffirmed its commitment to artificial intelligence, outlining a clear shift toward deeper AI integration across its devices and services. During its Q3 2025 earnings call, CEO Tim Cook emphasized that AI now represents one of the most transformative technologies of the era and confirmed Apple is reallocating significant internal resources to accelerate development.

The company revealed it has already deployed over 20 Apple Intelligence features, including tools for writing assistance, image cleanup, and visual recognition. Upcoming additions such as live translation and an AI-powered workout companion are slated for release later this year, while enhancements to Siri have been delayed to 2026 as development continues.

Cook dismissed the notion that new AI form factors, like smart glasses, would displace the iPhone, asserting Apple sees future devices as complementary rather than replacements. He added that Apple will continue to pursue strategic acquisitions, having already acquired seven AI-focused companies in 2025.

The company’s capital expenditures have increased, driven by AI infrastructure needs, though Apple continues to rely on third-party partners for large-scale investments. Despite criticism for trailing rivals in generative AI, Apple is opting for precision over speed, favoring product readiness over rushed launches.

Strong iPhone sales and record Q3 revenue fueled a stock surge in after-hours trading, as investors responded positively to Apple’s clearer AI direction and operational performance.
