Google Expands Gemini AI on Android with Task Automation, Scam Detection, and Enhanced Visual Search

Google has announced a major update to its Gemini AI capabilities on Android, introducing beta automations that allow the assistant to execute multi-step tasks such as ordering rides or food through supported apps. Initially available in the United States and Korea on select devices including the Pixel 10 and Samsung Galaxy S26 series, the feature integrates with services such as Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, Instacart, and Starbucks, enabling users to delegate routine activities through explicit voice commands.

The update also strengthens on-device AI protections, with tasks running in a secure virtual environment and real-time monitoring controls. Additional enhancements include expanded AI-powered scam detection for calls and texts and an upgraded Circle to Search function that can analyze all visible items on a screen simultaneously, reflecting Google’s broader push toward agentic mobile AI experiences.
