AI Coding Startup Emergent Raises $130M Series C at $1.5B Valuation

Indian AI coding startup Emergent has raised $130 million in a Series C round at a $1.5 billion post-money valuation, a five-fold increase in six months. The round was led by Creaegis, with participation from new investors MNI Ventures-Claypond and Sentinel Global, alongside existing backers Khosla Ventures, SoftBank’s Vision Fund 2, Lightspeed, and Y Combinator, bringing the company’s total funding to $230 million.

Co-founder and CEO Mukund Jha said the company’s goal has always been to build a production-grade platform for serious builders, describing it as offering an engineering team in a box. Jha, who launched Emergent with his brother and CTO Madhav Jha last year, said the company has reached $120 million in annual run-rate revenue, up 70% over four months, with more than 200,000 paying customers.

Jha positioned Replit as Emergent’s closest competitor, distinguishing the platform from developer-focused tools like Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor by emphasizing its focus on non-technical users who need integrated deployment, hosting, and debugging support. He acknowledged design remains a weak point across AI-built websites.

The company plans to use the funding to expand its AI agent capabilities, support open-source models, and grow its San Francisco and potential European operations.
