Arcee AI Raises Series B at Over $1B Valuation to Build Open-Weight Frontier Models

Arcee AI, a US company building open-weight foundation models, has closed a Series B round led by Vista Equity Partners, Cambium Capital and Emergence Capital, valuing the company at more than $1 billion. AI10 Ventures, Hitachi, IAG, M12, P7 and Wipro also participated. The funding will accelerate development of Arcee’s next-generation Trinity models, expand its collaboration with the US Department of Energy, and support new products for deploying open models.

Co-founder and CEO Mark McQuade said the company was founded on the belief that developers, enterprises and public institutions should be able to inspect, adapt and own the models they rely on, arguing the funding would advance that vision toward more capable open models and broader accessibility. Over the past year, Arcee developed its Trinity model family, including Trinity Large, a 400-billion-parameter model, reportedly training its entire 2025 lineup for approximately $20 million.

Monti Saroya of Vista Equity Partners said Arcee’s combination of technical execution and capital efficiency positioned it as critical infrastructure for enterprises seeking greater control over AI systems. The company is also working with the Department of Energy and its 17 national laboratories on Genesis-Science-1, an open model for scientific computing.

CTO Lucas Atkins said efficiency had shaped Arcee’s architecture and training decisions throughout Trinity’s development, with the next phase focused on expanding model capability and economic accessibility across the product family.
