Wabi Secures $55M at $1.25B Valuation After Pivot to Personal AI Agent

Wabi, an app now positioning itself as a personal AI agent, has secured $55 million at a $1.25 billion valuation in a round led by IVP. Andreessen Horowitz, Forerunner and the Amazon Alexa Fund also participated, along with angel investors including Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, former Yahoo head Marissa Mayer, former Twitter CEO Dick Costolo and Alex Pall of The Chainsmokers.

Founded by Eugenia Kuyda, who previously created AI companion startup Replika, Wabi originally let anyone build apps using prompts. Last month it pivoted toward an AI messaging experience, dubbed Wabi 2.0, in which the agent builds the interfaces users need to get tasks done. The company said it can create mini apps for meal planning, tracking local restaurants, planning date nights, designing fitness plans and building custom trivia games.

Alex Lim, general partner at IVP, said Kuyda has a distinctive sense of where AI is heading and a strong track record of building it. He added that her vision for how people will interact with AI extends well beyond the text box or command line, and that Wabi embodies that approach.

The funding reflects strong investor appetite for AI agents, following Instinct’s $1 billion raise at a $10 billion valuation and Tolan’s recent $30 million round for its AI companion.
