China’s Moonshot AI Claims Kimi K3 Can Rival OpenAI and Anthropic

Moonshot unveiled Kimi K3, a 2.8 trillion-parameter AI model the Chinese startup says can rival leading U.S. systems and plans to release as open source on July 27, BBC reported. The Alibaba- and Tencent-backed company said the model is built for coding, knowledge work and reasoning with minimal human supervision, while third-party benchmarks cited in the report showed performance comparable with leading U.S. models. ‘Dr. Doom’ Nouriel Roubini Says We’re Headed for Universal Basic Income or ‘Some Form of Socialism’ as AI Revolutionizes Work—He Calls that Optimistic

Nouriel Roubini told Bloomberg TV that AI and robots could replace a large share of the population in the next 20 to 25 years, making some form of universal basic income necessary, according to Fortune. He said AI could also drive much faster economic growth, allowing governments to tax the winners and redistribute gains as machines take on more work. (Fortune)

TSMC is Accelerating Arizona Factory Buildout to Capitalize on AI ‘Megatrend,’ CFO Says

TSMC CFO Wendell Huang told CNBC the company is accelerating capacity at its Arizona factory and raising its total Arizona investment pipeline to $265 billion amid multi-year AI-driven customer demand. Huang said the expansion includes front-end wafer fabs and advanced packaging, while TSMC is converting more 5-nanometer capacity to 3-nanometer production and preparing 2-nanometer technology as a new revenue driver. Google and Apple are Clashing with the EU over the Future of AI Assistants

The European Commission is requiring Google to give third-party AI agents broader access to Android by July 2027 and to start sharing search data in January under the Digital Markets Act. Google and Apple said the rules raise privacy and security concerns, while Apple has said it will not launch its new Siri AI assistant on iPhones and iPads in the EU because of the requirements. China’s Xi Jinping Launches New AI Alliance: What is It?

Chinese President Xi Jinping used the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai to call for international cooperation on AI and warn against any single country dominating the technology. China also formally launched the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organisation, a 29-country coalition headquartered in Shanghai that is intended to promote AI cooperation and regulation. Grid Dynamics Enters Partnership with Doosan Robotics for Manufacturing and Logistics Automation

Grid Dynamics entered a strategic partnership with Doosan Robotics to combine AI software with collaborative robot systems for industrial automation. The companies plan to pair Grid Dynamics’ GAIN Platform for Physical AI with Doosan’s cobots to support dual-arm assembly, inspection and packaging, while also helping users deploy physical AI models and monitor robotic lines with digital twins. mimic robotics unveiled a full-stack system for industrial dexterous manipulation that combines the mimic hand M1, the mimic wearable U1 and a custom software stack. The M1 is a tendon-driven robotic hand with 15 actuated degrees of freedom and 21 joints, while the U1 wearable lets people generate robot training data by performing tasks with their own hands instead of relying on robot teleoperation fleets.
